Casino High Rollers & The Games They Play

Roulette

The renowned game of roulette, with its signature spinning wheel, has become somewhat symbolic of gambling and casinos over time, and a very common feature on almost any casino floor. An easy and exciting game of chance, with high stakes and a fairly low house edge, roulette has long also been a favourite amongst high rollers.

When discussing roulette, however, it is worth mentioning the variants.

European Roulette, the most classic and common variant, has just one zero on the roulette wheel, and a reasonably low house edge of 2.7%. Furthermore, some casinos offer the special options of “En Prison” and “La Partage”, bringing the house edge even lower, to 1.35%.

American roulette wheels, however, have two zeros, and a much higher house edge of 5.26%, and so are general less favourable.

Craps

It’s arguable which is the most classic casino game of all time, but craps is certainly amongst the top contenders.

Being a highly recognisable casino game, frequently featured in movies, books, and other popular media and fiction, it has a great sense of glamour and allure at casinos.

It’s the fast and exciting pace, the high stakes and payout, easy to learn rules, dynamic betting system, and a house edge as low as 1.41%, that draws the majority of high rollers though.

Baccarat

Another famous and glamorous table game, with an even lower house edge of 1.09%, baccarat has long been known to be one of the highest paying real money casino games of all, just like real money online pokies.

Aside from the house edge and payout though, one of the greatest appeals of this game is its speed. At some casinos, it is possible for up to 55 games to be played in an hour, allowing the thrilling chance to win a lot of money in a short period of time.

Blackjack

Generally though, the highest paying casino game of all is considered to be blackjack.

One of the few skill-based casino games, it is possible, through careful use of basic blackjack strategy, to bring the house edge to as low as 0.5%.

Casinos also generally offer especially high betting limits in blackjack, and so when the high rollers take their seats around the blackjack table, they tend to go big.

Other High Roller Casino Games

Poker, another famous skill-based game next to blackjack, is also very popular for its unique and competitive style of play and large payouts. Texas Hold’em poker is by and large the most common variant of the game in recent times, but another new variant called, Three Card Poker, has also started gaining attention.

Another casino game that is generally not seen in the same light as the other games mentioned here, but has nevertheless generated some of the biggest wins in casino history, is slots.

Slots can, and do, have a wide range of house edge, from 2.5% up to 15%, with odds, win-rate and payout that differ as a result.  In some games though, the size of the jackpots, especially when it comes to progressive jackpots, can be phenomenally huge.
